Getting Used to a Mac

As of yesterday I’m a Mac user!

Why did I switch after 26 years on a PC?

Vista.

Even though Vista was the “straw that broke the camel’s back” this has been coming for years.

As soon as Apple started to care about the business user PC’s were in trouble.

The transition hasn’t been flawless but I’ve been very impressed with how Apple has handled issues.

One thing I find interesting is that they are less willing to put up with imperfections than I am.

It made me realize how often I’ve “lived with” something on a Windows machine that I shouldn’t have.

As long as my machine wasn’t blowing up and I could get my email, drivers that weren’t compatible and other glitches were tolerable.

Shame on me!

Hi, Ann,

Welcome back from the Dark side:-)

Really. Been a Mac user since 1987 and now, withe my iPhone always at the ready, anything is possible.

Good move...

Welcome to my world!

The drag and drop feature alone is worth the switch. And, things hardly ever just die with no explanation.

I've now got both an iMac and a MacBook. They. just. work. No laborious loading of software and jumping through hoops, just to get the starting point.

(I also have an iPod...next up is an iPhone.

Steve: The iPhone is next on my list!

Mary: I can't believe how easy things are on this machine. The hardest thing I have to keep remembering is to STOP overcomplicating thing (based on my 25+ years of windows experience) - 9 out of 10 actions I want to accomplish can be done by drag and drop!!!!

I can't get over how many people I know are switching too. I wonder if there are any stats on that.

Ann

I agree, Ann. Great move. I switched last October and I've had such an easy time with it all.

Vista was the reason for me as well. With my hard drive crashed, I had no legacy issues :)

Hi Valeria!

It's been great so far - one week now. It slowed me down a little Monday and Tuesday last week, but I think I've started thinking like a Mac user now. If you think like a Windows user all the easy answers to your questions just escape you!!!

Ann
