This is my car.
This is my daughter.
She flipped my car over yesterday.
She and her friend had to get some stitches.
Safety isn’t just a marketing pitch.

Thank God no one was seriously hurt. By the looks of that car they could have gotten more serious injuries.

She must be a pretty poor driver to flip a sporty sedan like that.
Good thing there wasn't anyone in the back seat! That roof caved right-in!

Hi Ann,
That is a truly amazing story, do you think there is any possibility of featuring it in LIV (the Volvo magazine)?
If so then please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected]
Kind regards,
Joe

Hello Paul -
At the time it turned over she was going 60 miles per hour. I'm not sure what the top speed as on the car (we never went that fast!).
One thing I will tell you is that the medical tech in the ambulance told us that in his experience Volvos and BMWs did the best in roll overs.
I did buy another Volvo (this time an S40) and I LOVE it!
Good luck!

Hi Ann
Can you please tell me what speed did the Volvo had? Yeah Volvo are safe car,and to be honest i' ll give up buying a BMW because i think Volvo is much safer. Not to mention that Volvo makes you drive slow:)
Anyway i am glad everthing is OK.

Ellen, Mack & Drew:
I'm so thankful that she and her friend are ok and I appreciate your comments.
I found out Volvo has a "Volvo saved my life club" for people who believe that a Volvo saved their life (operative words being "who believe").
They really do it tastefully and preface the concept with the idea that it would be far better if no one was ever killed or severely injured in auto accidents.
But they give their client base an outlet at what can be a very emotional and scary time. It's not only humane, it's brilliant marketing - a "bonding" experience for them and their customers.
Funny - my daughter gets in an accident and, after the initial shock and concern, I'm thinking about marketing and customer relationships!!!!
I think I need an intervention.

Ann,
How horribly frightening for you and your daughter. I can only imagine. I'm so glad she and her friends are okay.
And Volvo has to be loving you as much as you are loving them!

Ann glad to hear that your daughter walked away with a few stitches and bandages. What a ringing striking endorsement for Volvo!

Ann - what an amazing story of safety -- thanks for posting it - and also for letting us know you are all OK. Volvo rocks!

Hi Kirk!
Thanks for stopping by. I'm really glad we got the car and ran by my Volvo dealership today to talk to the guy that sold it to me.
If I do replace the car it will be with another Volvo. My sons are 15 and 13 so I will have inexperienced drivers in my house for many years to come.
While I hope nothing like this ever happens again, I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Hi Ann,
First time I stop by and look what happens. Volvo is an old hand at safety that's for sure and they were doing it long before most other car manufacturers even thought of the idea.
Glad your daughter is okay. You can thank yourself for being smart too.

Thanks Mary, it was pretty scary but it was amazing to see that the only part of my car intact was the passenger compartment.

Wow! Ann, that must have awful - and now I'll definitely keep Volvo in mind.
Hope everyone recovers quickly.
